KERRY FRANZMAN is a writer, director & producer of radio and television programs and commercials.
Franzman began his career as a copywriter for print, radio and television advertising. Soon after, he found himself attending recording studios and production sets during the making of commercials he had written.
By 1986, Franzman was writing, directing and producing commercials for radio and television. His radio and television commercial credits include Ameritech, Gannett Suburban Newspapers, Heineken, Hyatt Hotels, Mercedes-Benz, New York State Lottery, and Pitney-Bowes.
In 1988, operating under the corporate name Response Entertainment Inc., Franzman created Home Team Minutes, the company's first advertising-driven sports content produced for radio. This series of sports program inserts was written, directed and produced by Franzman and hosted by sportscaster Steve Albert. The series was nationally syndicated and sponsor supported from 1989 through 1996.
Between 1997 and 2002, Franzman lived part-time in Paris, France. The influence of Parisian life and art steered him toward making his first documentary feature about an unusual Irish artist named Reginald Gray.
In the autumn of 1999, Reginald Gray: Portrait of a Portrait Artist began production in Paris with additional location shooting taking place in Normandy, Ireland and England through the spring of 2000. The documentary was released in January of 2001 and immediately selected to FIPA (Festival International de Programmes Audio Visuels) in Biarritz, France. Later that year, Reginald Gray: Portrait of a Portrait Artist was selected as "2001 Documentary Winner" at Telluride Indiefest in Telluride, Colorado.
Reginald Gray: Portrait of a Portrait Artist is currently in worldwide tv distribution and is represented by Monster Distributes in Dublin, Ireland. The first national broadcast aired October 4, 2001, at 10pm, on TV1 Finland.
In 2003, Franzman produced and directed his second television documentary feature. Far A Field: Why Long Island Stopped The Music is about the politics and paranoia of a small Long Island town attempting to host a "Woodstock-like" three-day rock music festival. Far A Field is a Response Entertainment Inc. production in association with Deerfield Productions Inc. Licensed to The Documentary Channel for airing in 2006.
During 2004, Franzman worked as Line Producer for the TLC television series, Repo Men: Stealing For A Living, as well as Director of the repo segments that appeared in the '04 fall season premier episode, Southern Fried Repo.
